BTEC Tech Award in Travel and Tourism Level 1/2. The course is made up of three components: two internally assessed and one external assessment. The BTEC Tech Award in Travel and Tourism has been designed to help students develop their travel and tourism skills through practical, skills-based learning. Course aims:
Component 1:
Explore different types of tourism and different types of visitors, and investigate the features of and routes to popular tourist destinations.
Students will:

Demonstrate an understanding of the UK travel and tourism industry

Explore popular visitor destinations.

Component 2:
Explore how specific needs are met by organisations and how travel planning meets customer needs and preferences through market research.
Students will:

Demonstrate an understanding of how organisations identify customer needs and travel and tourism trends

Recognise how the needs and preferences of travel and tourism customers are met.

Component 3:
Examine the potential impacts of tourism at global destinations and how destinations can manage the impacts of tourism and control tourism development to achieve sustainable tourism.
Students will:

Explore factors that influence global travel and tourism

Analyse the impact of travel and tourism and its sustainability

Investigate how tourism may bring change to destinations over time.

Students are required to be self-starters and able to work to deadlines as they are required to complete assessments on time throughout both years 10 and 11. They also need to follow instructions to improve work and must take responsibility for all that they do.
