Product Design is your gateway to creating tomorrow’s solutions, from new ideas to beautiful creations. The subject offers an academic, imaginative, and creative approach, centred on developing innovative answers to real-world challenges. In Year 10, we will complete a range of mini projects to build your skills in designing, research, CAD/CAM and manufacturing. In Year 11, you will undertake an extensive design and make project of your choosing and prepare for a final written examination.
What you will learn:
A range of design and manufacturing techniques, including laser cutters and 3D printing, is also used to produce high-quality models using computer-aided design software.
Students will complete a practical project to investigate opportunities and design and make a concept model of a fully functional product that could be introduced to a market. At the end of the course, students will complete a final written examination. This subject will benefit people who enjoy science, designing solutions to problems and making models.
